Thorvaldsen’s Museum in central Copenhagen was Denmark’s first public museum. This impressive and colourful building is home to sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen’s art and collections. A visit to this museum is a unique architectural experience – you can explore Thorvaldsen’s sculptures and visit his antiques collection and his unique collection of Golden Age paintings. Crash courses in drawing for kids and their adults
Throughout the summer, Thorvaldsen’s Museum offers crash courses for the whole family in drawing in proportion. Classes are small, with a maximum of ten participants. The courses are suitable for children from the age of seven, although younger siblings are also welcome. Our instructors are professional artists, each with their own approach to portrait painting.

Current exhibitions
The Thorvaldsen’s Museum “Between Art and Ritual” exhibition marks the 200th anniversary of the beginning of Bertel Thorvaldsen’s work on the statue of Christ for the Church of Our Lady – Copenhagen Cathedral. With its mix of sound, video and personal effects, the exhibition gives a detailed insight into the story of Thorvaldsen’s famous statue.

The “Longings: Thorvaldsen’s Italian paintings” exhibition shines a spotlight on the collection of paintings by Italian artists which sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen collected in Rome.
